江戸時代の商家に立つ三階建ての文書蔵――それが「木屋江戸資料館」です。揺れの大きな地震も、海から吹き込む湿った潮風も、この蔵は何度となくくぐり抜けてきました。分厚い土蔵造りの壁と、巧みに組まれた梁が支える耐震構造は、現代の私たちが見ても頷ける理にかなったつくり。先人たちが未来を思い描き、記憶を守るために施した工夫が、内部に残る古文書とともに今も息づいています。

Its thick earthen walls and the skillfully joined beams that brace them constitute an earthquake-resistant design still acknowledged by modern engineers. The foresight of early builders who wished to protect written memory for the future continues to breathe through the manuscripts preserved inside.
